Writing is a lost art form in my opinion, we’re a very visual society these day. By that, I mean that a 4 year old can look at a picture for a product and not only be able to tell you what it is but can sing the associate jingle. Words are the most powerful weapon in any arsenal; the pen is always mightier so to say. That being said, I write to preserve a skill. However, there are people who hold it to a much higher standard than I do; People who can use their inner arcane intelligence to change simple letters into heartfelt emotions through verbs and verse.
They call these phenomenal people poets and today I would like to introduce you to one that is revolutionizing the skill and practice of wordplay extraordinaire. Her name is Eve Redwater and she is one commanding poetry writer. Please give a warm Captain’s Blog Welcome to Eve!
Now hold your horses fellas, she’s not just a pretty face. There is much more to her then a talented magician when it comes to scribe. She is a self-proclaimed late bloomer who learned how to ride a bike at age 22. I would assume she was busy memorizing a thesaurus to deliver a bomb of excellence in the medium of words balladry on you unsuspecting and very welcome victims. It doesn’t stop there folks! She loves to enjoy some cheesecake but keep those bananas on the shelf because she doesn’t care for them. She is also an Aquarius for all you zodiac fanatics. The rest is a mystery I will leave for you to solve by visiting some links to her sites towards the end of the article.
Now I can’t just lead you on with amazing poetry without giving you some sort of evidence to support my claim. Without further ado, please enjoy one of my favorites via her blog which I am subscribed. I implore you to do the same if you’re really a lover of art and poetry. Here it is my friends!
Postman by Eve Redwater
How long the day,
Delivering letters to friends,
And cranky, bald dog feeders. Home
Is forward, past those poplars.
Always I’ve been in love with
Their almond scent, just as I catch
Past, dragging feet and who knows
How many heartfelt “Thank-you’s”.
Home is… where the wife is sitting.
She’s not keen on laundry, but,
I’m an exception.
Always are my blue shirts blue,
She likes to make sure. Just in case I meet
With him; that carrion shaker,
Mr. Reaper.
“Hello.” I’d say, and tip my cap,
Along my silent nightly rounds;
Perhaps he’d humour me, if he could
See me. He’s searching. For me? No.
That’s not right.
The lamps are thickest
In the dark, and that’s just how
he likes it.
Even if I tip-toe, tip-toe, tip-toe around
Him, he’ll still turn his hood toward me.
A courteous, creaking greeting.
That chill I get.
Matches only the fear
From losing fingers, as I push envelopes,
Catalogues, and restless dreams
Through many metal slats.
But even I, can’t quite see,
When the sky turns milky-grey…
That perching, questioning hand
Placed gently on my shoulder;
Pushing down as I bend my back,
Kicking over milk-bottles, sometimes
accidentally. I shake it off.
Get to bed! I say to myself, mostly
Always, to myself.
Slap on some cream
And
Get to bed.

Now please, hold your tears and applause. It’s just one poem out of many from the incredible collection of Ms. Redwater. I know you’re now intrigued, enticed, and are dying for more. I predicted that this would happen you guys and I have you covered. Don’t I always? Don’t feel like you need to answer that…ever. Anywho, here are some links that can get you in the right directions starting with Eve’s micro-site. Just click the picture and that little image will become reality.
I am telling you, she is just a talented person all around. She writes amazing things just about every day and each one is a gem. Here’s one of the coolest parts, she will usually answer any critiques you leave and I can really get behind someone who answers to their fans. That just goes to show you that the Hollywood doesn’t always go to a celebrity’s head. I am not sure what the UK equivalent to that quip is but use that instead.
Here are some more useful links for your viewing pleasure.
Eve Redwater’s Redwater Ramblings (In case you missed the picture above) will take you to the micro-site.
Redwater Ramblings will take you right to the blog where you can always find the latest poems.
You can also find Eve Redwater on the Facebook machine if you’re a real fan (I am).
Lastly, follow Ms. Redwater on twitter to always hear what’s going on: @EveRedwater
When someone like Eve is honoring the culture this world has been deprived of, you can count of the Captain supporting the renaissance needed so desperately these days. It’s good stuff folks, give it a shot even if you aren’t a connoisseur of the finer things in life (but you should be). That’s all I have for you today my friends. Stay funky fresh and please support those who make the world a better place to live.

Captain Jace over at “The Captains Blog!” has so very, very, very kindly produced an article about me and my work! Words cannot express how wonderful this makes me feel, especially after these days of self-doubt! Thank you so, so much Captain! Please everyone, I’d love if you’d take a peek at his wonderful blog; there’s insight, mischief and giggles to be had with every post. He’s a real rising star!
Thank you again for the opportunity to promote your works on my blog. You have quite a way with words yourself, keep your chin up Eve; you’re going places! Thank you also for the kind words! Looks like I’ll have to straighten my tie and get down to business for my new readers
I’m so glad! This is such a great opportunity, thank you so much for doing this for me! I’ve plastered your site over pretty much every social network that I’m linked to, so hopefully I can throw some links your way too.
Keep up your excellent work, I’ll always be reading!
Very nice article! I found Eve’s blog just recently, read some of her exceptional poetry and began following her on the spot. It’s well worth the look, so hop on over and give it a read – you’ll probably end up staying (like I did), and be glad you did.
I’m also intrigued to meet the Captain here, so following you as well, and looking forward to the exploration! ~ Julie
Thanks for dropping in Julie! She’s one of a kind and resurrecting the lost art truly. I only strive to entertain with jokes and media references. Like a late night talk show host without the show, life is still grand! I hope we can keep you reading here in the future, take care for now!
Great eye for talent Captain!
Hi Cap’n, I found Eve’s poetry blog a few weeks ago and felt very much the same as you – her poetry really is among the best I’ve seen on the ‘net, prolific and consistently fresh – it’s a pleasure to follow her work and on her recommendation I’ll go looking around “The Captain’s Blog”
